Hook & Tow Crimes Rise in Texas

Total losses in Texas have exceeded $25 million so far this year due to Hook and Tow crimes. The offenders are using stolen trucks or construction equipment to back up to the machine and violently rip apart ATMs to access cash contents.

As a result, financial institutions are facing rising insurance rates.

In partnership with the Texas Bankers Association, FBI and local authorities, we have formed an ATM Crime Task Force composed of community bankers, state regulators, and ATM industry to thwart attacks. A bill has been filed to increase the penalty for crimes involving ATMs in Texas to a third-degree felony.

How can you protect your ATM/ITM fleet from this type of attack now? One of the most effective prevention measures is having bollard posts installed to protect your equipment. These heavy-duty posts can stop vehicle intrusion and security breaches. And, you can add make them visually appealing by adding your brand.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
